Components

Advantech has announced the IPC-7143, an ATX-compatible chassis that has mobile SATA HDD trays, as well as a bottom-accessible I/O interface. The IPC-7143 can hold a variety of storage devices, including a slim-style CD-ROM drive, two SATA drives, and two IDE drives. Because the I/O interface is accessible through the bottom of the chassis, an area for maintenance in the rear of the system is unnecessary. The IPC-7143’s exterior has a hinged bracket that holds the power supply. This design makes it easier to replace components, including the PSU, CPU, and memory. The IPC-7143 costs $300.

Maxim introduced the MAX1215, a 12-bit, 250Msps (Megasamples per second) analog-to-digital converter. The MAX1215 features a signal-to-noise ratio of 66dB at 10MHz and manages to deviate only 2dB with tones up to 300MHz. The MAX1215 chip uses 1.8V of power and is designed for either differential or single-ended operation. The MAX1215 chip retails for $47.50 in 1,000-unit quantities.
