It provides up to 100 IPsec tunnels, 120Mbps of firewall throughput, and an encrypted throughput of 35Mbps. The EMC CLARiiON DL740, DL720, DL710, and DL310 feature active-engine fail-over tape emulation software and write-cache consolidation for better performance. At the high-end, the DL740 can scale to 348TB, while the DL720 and DL710 support up to 174TB each. The DL310 takes the place of EMCs DL300 unit and supports between 3.8 and 37.5TB. EMC also introduced several additions to its line of CLARiiON networked storage systems and software. EMCs new CLARiiON CX300-s, CX500-s, and CX700-s Fibre Channel and iSCSI storage systems all feature UltraPoint hardware and software diagnostic technology, as well as Virtual LUN Technology, which lets users migrate data to and from anywhere within the array, without impacting the program. Using iSCSI technology, the TotalStorage N3700 scales up to a maximum of 16TB storage, supports disaster recovery, and lets users mirror data within the device and to a remote location. Prices for the Total Storage N3700 start at $50,000. IBM also announced a SAN Starter Kit, which is designed for xSeries environments. According to IBM, its SAN Starter Kit should help small businesses combine their storage products into a single place. The kit includes an IBM TotalStorage Switch L10 and dual-controller IBM TotalStorage DS400 Express disk storage and is ideal for storage tasks, such as email servers, collaborative databases, and Web serving. In addition to using LSIs Fusion-MPT architecture to speed product adoption, the LSI7104XP-LC and LSI7204XP-LC are compatible with 1Gbps and 2Gbps legacy products; the HBAs automatically detect connection speed, so each port can operate at 1Gbps, 2Gbps, or 4Gbps.
