The AiroPeek NX WLAN analyzer covers a gamut of WLAN management requirements, including client troubleshooting, site surveys, WLAN monitoring, and application layer protocol analysis. The AiroPeek VX offers real-time wireless and VoIP diagnostics. It includes ART (Application Response Time) analysis, triggers, and alarms, among other functions. QLogic showed off its SANblade QEM2462 Fibre Channel Adapter at the Intel Developers Conference. The adapter comes protected in a closed chassis and allows for toolless installation or removals. Fujitsu is targeting these families at mobile professionals. The LifeBook T4020 is a Tablet PC that includes an integrated keyboard. It boasts a 12.1-inch XGA display (160-degree viewing angle), Bluetooth, a fingerprint sensor, and wireless hardware (Atheros Super AG or Intels Pro/Wireless 2915ABG). It also includes an Intel Pentium M ULV 740 or 760. The Stylistic ST5032 Tablet PC is a true slate computer that includes a 12.1-inch XGA display or a 10.4-inch indoor/outdoor display. The system weighs 3.5 pounds and boasts a shock-mounted hard drive, built-in TPM, a Smart Card slot, and finger sensor. The Tablet PC also includes the Intel Pentium M ULV 753 and wireless hardware (Atheros Super AG or Intels Pro/Wireless 2915ABG). The projectors automatic keystone correction displays a symmetrical image regardless of the projectors orientation. An option kit is available to mount the device from the ceiling. EzBack-upsa connects to a systems USB port. It supports Hi-Speed USB connections. EzBackupsa automatically creates a full image copy of the attached system. The devices configuration utility is compatible with Win2000/XP and Linux. Users can create as many as eight backup schedules for new, modified, user-defined, or all files. Users can also schedule backups or use the EzTouchsm button on the front of the unit. Each time the EzBackupsa is reconnected to the systems USB port, a backup is automatically performed. All new backup data is added to the original system image. The device is available in five capacities: 80GB, 160GB, 250GB, 320GB, and 400GB. Each unit costs approximately $1 per gigabyte. Fujitus new notebook hard drive weighs in at a whopping 160GB. The 4,200rpm MHV2160BT uses a SATA interface. Fujitsu is targeting the 2.5-inch drive at notebook users who need extra space and for audio/video tasks and gaming. The drive includes NCQ hardware accelerator and supports DIPM and HIPM. The drive also supports staggered spin up and active LEDs. The IntelliStation M Pro 6218 starts at $1,479 and includes WinXP Pro 64-bit and 32-bit. The workstation is also certified for both 64-bit and 32-bit versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0. SOFTWARE Data Communications AdventNet announced OpManager 5.6, the latest version of its network-monitoring software. The new version includes combined WAN, server, and application monitoring. OpManager is a Web-based tool with fault and performance management, as well as autodiscovery capabilities. The software automatically categorizes devices and performs real-time monitoring. AdventNet has integrated email and SMS notification of network faults. OpManager creates report and graphs for Cisco devices, MS-Exchange, Lotus Notes, Oracle, MSSQL, Dell, Compaq, and others. The latest version of the software adds monitoring support for Exchange 2000/2003. For $495, users can add monitoring for an unlimited number of Exchange servers. Version 5.6 also improves integration with ServiceDesk Plus and Netflow Analyzer. A free edition monitors up to 10 devices. Other licenses start at $795. Security Dorian Software Creations released Even Analyst 4.5 for event-log reporting. The new version includes three new reporting options. Two of the reports log all successful and failed attempts of users to access objects. The third new report summarizes object deletions and determines correlations to other events. Event Analyst now provides administrative control over the systems within an OU. Event Analyst can perform functions across the entire domain or over a single OU. Version 4.5 now supports advanced filter cloning, single-click report scheduling, compressed email reports, local backups of active event logs, and automatic opening of archived EVT files. Dorian Software Creations designed Event Analyst to integrate well with Event Archiver for log collection. McAfees Virex antivirus software for Mac OS X was recently updated to support Mac OS X 10.4 (also known as Tiger). The release is intended for SMEs and offers administrators the ability to centrally control the software along other McAfee security applications, using McAfees ePolicy Orchestrator.
